SLVC Preview: Woodlands vs SAFFC on 5-Nov
As we know from previous post, SAFFC's next SLVC challenger on 5-Nov, Woodlands Wellington, boast a respectable pedigree in the virtual championship, having won the title on 8 occasions, only bettered by SAFFC (13), Home (11) & Geylang (10).
Woodlands' all-time record in the SLVC is also the 4th best, having played 68 macthes, won 27, drew 18 & lost 24, allowing them to amass 99 points in the overall standings, just behind SAFFC (66-25-18, 223), Home (59-21-20, 198) & Geylang (32-17-23, 113).
It is also worth noting that Woodlands has actually been the best team in the SLVC mini-league for the past 3 seasons (2004, 2005, 2006), the only team to have achieve this feat 3-in-a-row!
Woodlands' SLVC records against SAFFC currently reads: 19 games played, won 4, drew 5, lost 5, scored 20 & conceded 26. Sounds not too bad right? Though the Rams have not beat the Army after the 2003 season, :-)
The match-ups between the 2 teams since 2001 showed that Woodlands has won 6, drew 6 & lost the other 8. If only the 8 games at Woodlands stadium were considered, Woondlands has 2 wins, 3 draws & 3 losses.
In 2007 alone, Woodlands was already well beaten twice by SAFFC (0-6! at home & 1-3 away). I would say SAFFC should get a win from here too, anything less would be upsets, :-p
