While "home ground advantage" wasn't evident in 2010 season so far, I was wondering which of the teams might have "benefited" the most in this season's schedule, given the large number of games at neutral venue (48 out of 198, almost a quarter of them) this season, thus rubbing some teams more of their home games than the others. The following are the basic assumptions of my analysis: 1) Games at JBS shall end as 0-0 (since both teams have home advantage at a neutral venue) 2) Games at elsewhere shall end as 1-0 for the home teams (as home advantage equates to a goalfor the host) 'The balance of the force' Table of S.League 2010: # Team------- P- W--D--L F--A Pts GD 1. As expected, YL were benefited the most in this analysis, as they play 17 "true" home games (at JBS) this season, the most in the league. 2. Gombak should have had good reasons to dream of a first league title. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked out for them so far... 3. Just look at how disadvantaged Geylang are!! Out of their 16 "home" games this season, 6 of them will be at JBS, leaving only 10 "real" home game for them, the least in the league. Analysis on the previous seasons to follow shortly... |

Highlights:
1. The number of neutral games have been increasing steadily year after year.
2. Gombak's "positions" in the 4 most recent seasons (including 2010): 1st, 2nd, 1st, 2nd.
3. Surprisingly, even though YL enjoyed all the home ground advantage, they only topped the table twice in these 5 seasons.
